Prayer Wall
In 1844, George Williams founded the YMCA as a Bible Study aimed at “the improvement of the spiritual condition of young men” who he recognized lacked God in their lives. Together, he and ten men gathered in prayer for their co-workers and the community. The Sidney-Shelby Co. YMCA has remained committed to this heritage. William’s vision evolved into the YMCA Christian Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

| 31 Aug 2026 | All Children, Families and Teachers during the new 2026/2027 School Year | As we begin a new school year, I pray especially for all children and their families as well as all teachers and staff at schools in our community. I pray that God the Father guides, protects and enlightens everyone with the truth of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit in the Sidney-Shelby County Community! Amen. |
| 29 Aug 2026 | Prayer for the nations | Please pray in agreement with me: Heavenly Father, we join our hearts in one accord, lifting the nations before your throne of grace. We ask you to break the cycle of violence in Haiti and silence the wicked (Psalm 10:15), while drawing near to the brokenhearted in Nigeria with your divine comfort (Psalm 34:18). We pray for Cuba, that the needy would not be forgotten and Your provision would overflow (Psalm 9:18), and for Jamaica, that You would be their strength and restorer amidst devastation (Isaiah 41:10). Lord, we specifically intercede for Ukraine, asking that You make wars to cease to the ends of the earth, breaking the bow and shattering the spear (Psalm 46:9), restoring its people from the years the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25), and providing a refuge for the oppressed in this time of trouble (Psalm 9:9). In the current Israel-Iran war, we intercede for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) and ask You to soften the hearts of leaders on both sides and for Your will to be done. Lord, we also bring before You the urgent crises gripping Nepal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo we ask for Your mercy over the DRC as it battles the Ebola outbreak, touching the infected with Your healing power, and we lift up Japan, Columbia and Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes, guiding search-and-rescue teams and providing immediate shelter to the thousands displaced. Most importantly, Lord, we pray for the salvation of all, knowing it is Your heart that none should perish but that everyone should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9), opening the eyes of the lost and letting Your Gospel go forth with power, for You desire all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). Finally, Lord, give us leaders who are men and women after your own heart that will love and care for the people and fear you, and give boldness to your persecuted Church worldwide, sustaining them with the promise that you are with them always (Matthew 28:20). In Jesus Christ's mighty name we pray, Amen. |
